The Chiribiquete National Park or the "Maloca del Jaguar" is a natural area in Colombia that was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2018. The pure nature of Chiribiquete National Park is a blessing for every nature lover in the world.

This national park radiates life, beauty, and biodiversity. Where is the Chiribiquete National Natural Park located?


The Chiribiquete National Park is located in the Colombian Amazon and currently has an extension of around 42,680 km2, being the fifth largest national park in the world and the first in Latin America in terms of territorial extension; that is, 12,000 times larger than Central Park in New York.

 

Why is the Chiribiquete national park unique?


This national park is a contact point of three biogeographic zones that are the Amazon, the Orinoquia and the Guyana, which allows the animals and plants of these regions to interact, propitiating an environment favorable to the development of diversity and the appearance of new species.

In addition, this national park offers an emblematic landscape, the tepuis (table-top mountains) which are mountains that rise majestically among the jungle, whose special feature is to have a flat aspect in the highest part, similar to the plain that It resembles a table.

Additionally, around 75,000 rock art figures have been made by indigenous peoples who represent scenes of hunting, battles, dances, and ceremonies, where the jaguar is also drawn in a sacred way, as a symbol of power and fertility.

  

How to get there to Chiribiquete National Park?


The Chiribiquete National Park is not accessible for land entry. By national parks of Colombia Office´s disposition, it has been indicated that ecotourist enjoyment will be carried out through overflights with personnel authorized by this entity, since the frequencies and number of possible flights are regulated to maintain a balance between the flow of tourists, carrying capacity and environmental care.
